Yoga has been around for more than 5,000 years, it is derived from the Sanskrit root "yuj," (pron. "yug") meaning "to join", "to unite" but also "to subjugate". It does more than burn calories and tone muscles.

It's a total mind-body workout that combines strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing and meditation-relaxation.

There are more than 100 different forms of yoga. Some are fast-paced and intense. Others are gentle and relaxing.

 

Ashtanga Yoga is the style we do at Greek God Fitness. This dynamic, physical practice synchronizes breath and movement to produce an internal heat designed to purify the body. Ashtanga yoga, with its many movements, is great for building core strength and toning the body. 

 

 

 

What is Yoga:

 

Yoga is great for reducing stress and allowing for greater relaxation. Once you get into Yoga though, you learn that it is so much more than just a way to workout and keep in shape. It is a philosophy, a passion and a way of life for many of those involved in Yoga. While you may be getting into yoga for the exercise, you may soon find yourself wrapped in the philosophy and spirituality that Yoga brings along with it.
